Nikolas Wereszczyński
(b. 1996 Warsaw).
Painter, illustrator and printmaker.
He has been based in London since 2007. Following a year (2017-18) in the Fine Art course at the University of East London he decided to continue his artistic development outside of the academic sphere, combining the elements of folk art, naïve art and illustration in his creative practice, employing the lack of traditional training to his advantage.
His work is highly inspired by folk culture and folk stories, and their connection to animism and folk beliefs. He works predominantly with gouache when painting and linocut as well as mokuhanga are his preferred printmaking techniques. In years 2023 and 2024 he became a semi-finalist of the Rising Stars contest organised by the Royal Society of British Artists in conjunction with the Royal Over-Seas League, where his works have been exhibited.
He participates often in open exhibitions of various London societies, such as the Royal Watercolour Society (2024), Society of Graphic Fine Art (2022) and the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours (2022).
Since 2024 he has been a member of the Greenwich Printmakers Gallery in London, also performing the role of the publicity coordinator.
In free time he runs linocut workshops.
