Ruth Greenwood
Ruth was born in Nottingham, studied Costume Design for Theatre, Film and TV at Bournemouth College of Art & Design.
From 1997 Ruth has lived and worked in London. In 2017, Ruth attended printmaking classes at Thames-side Print Studio and found the process of etching to be both intriguing and highly satisfying.
Ruth's work encompasses the long-established genre of still life and she has developed her own style, with influences from the baroque to the aesthetics that informed the arts and crafts movement.
She draws directly into the hard ground on zinc, copper or steel to form the lines at the heart of her etchings, studying and sketching everyday objects and exploring their form.
Her work has been exhibited at shows in London, Derby and Ironbridge. Ruth is a member of Greenwich Printmakers Association, Thames-side Printmakers, and South London Women Artists.
