Angela Brookes

Angela lives in Greenwich and works from her studio at home using her Bewick press. She gained her degree at the Central School of Art and taught for some years before becoming a self employed printmaker. Her work focusses mostly on the natural world and reveals her interest in the glory and the mystery of the landscape, both rural and urban. After many years of observing the landscape in all it's moods, some images are conjured from her imagination and memory. Currently her preferred printing technique is drypoint in combination with mono print. This combination allows her to to vary her prints and provides her with the excitement of making each print unique and more painterly.
Etching with aquatint is also favoured technique, and recently she has been experimenting with light based transfer of her drawings on to solar plate.
Angela has exhibited widely and her work is held by the V&A and the Scarborough Archive and by private collections in the UK and many other countries.
